Broken

So I broke (or fractured) my baby toe on my left foot about 3 weeks ago.  And it continues to be a problem.  It's like a magnetic force that attracts all kinds of trauma.  I broke it in a rush to be on time to an appointment.  We have this annoying "half wall" separating our living room from the rest of the house and I swear it came out a couple if inches to attack my foot.  Initially I was rolling around the floor in the middle of the hallway yelping like a hurt animal and then rocking myself in the fetal position as I felt all the blood rush to my pinky toe.  I immediately felt it swell up like a grape and there was shooting pain every step I took.  And shoes??

Oh my god.

Shoes were torture devices sent to crush my toe even further.  Needless to say, Heels were out of the question unless I wanted to see stars every time I took a step. 

So I had to take a break from the gym and did it in style.  I comforted myself with food.  Mainly this frickin' awesome trail mix from Costco that I added chocolate chips to.  Basically I ended up eating 7 pounds of it in under a week.  Yup.  I think it must be some kind of record.  I was obsessed with it.  Eat breakfast. Fix some trail mix.  Take shower. Fix some trail mix.  Ice toe. Inhale trail mix.  I also dabbled in brownies and chocolate cake. 

5 pounds in one week.  Some people say that it is impossible for a person to do this.  Then I am a freaking super hero because I rocked that 5 pounds.  

And caught up on my DVR.

I also started watching this series on Showtime called "Dexter".  The thing with "Dexter" is that it is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY twisted.  Essentially Dexter is the main character in the series and he is a serial killer.  But the writers? Make him LIKABLE. I find myself routing for a serial killer.  How sick is THAT?  Yes, he only kills criminals who are the lowest of the low, but he KILLS PEOPLE.  And it's addicting to watch.  Thank you Showtime for indulging my dark and twisty side. 

So here I am.  I just busted up my toe AGAIN on the door of a closet (see? It's a TARGET!), icing it yet again. I'm craving trail mix, which is looooog gone and can't wait for my children to take a nap so I can continue into the third season of a show where I like a serial killer. 

What happened to the days when I just ate to survive and would start crosstitching at this time of year for Christmas presents?

Hope you're feeling better soon. I love Dexter. Found it sometime between season 1 & 2. Been hooked ever since. Sick, twisted, but I love him. Enjoy.

Nice site upgrade, Sar! I am impressed. And coming from someone who has busted every toe at least twice I can empathise. In fact, just busted my rib AGAIN a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, nothing much they can do about ribs OR toes, right?
